Design Ideation

When I was given the opportunity to influence the overall design aesthetic of a project, I often looked for inspiration from the subject matter itself. Creating background patterns for a Chinese language course meant researching historical Chinese art. I found the ancient bronzes to be particularly inspiring. All three of these patterns were picked for use in the course.

A number of different components were made to supplement films teachers could show in the classroom. While the overall patterns and templates were the same throughout, colors were changed to match the aesthetic of the movies. I decided on the colors to use for two very different films.
