Whimsy and Delight
A majority of the courses I worked on for K12 were for grades K through 5. It was important, where appropriate, to create fun images that could appeal to the kids. A little different from full-on illustrations, these pictures were meant to excite and delight and sometimes help teach concepts. Many of these were edited from our illustration library and use the K-5 characters created to keep students engaged.
These images were all created in Illustrator.
Among the more than dozen diverse characters created for use throughout the K-5 courses, I designed four of them: Eloise, Raj, Eric, and Sarah (no relation, though I did give her my short hair). While the shape language and body styles were not my creation, I had fun adding my own flair to the characters, like Raj’s undercut or Eloise’s chubbiness and glasses.
